How do Golf Shoes Improve the Game
Hola from sunny Spain.
After reading your site I know that from time to time you answer some of your loyal readers’ questions.
I was wondering if you could provide me with some advice. I know that most clubs won’t let you out with regular street shoes and they insist on golf shoes but my question is why do they insist? If it was a case of grip couldn’t I wear football boots or if it’s a comfort thing wouldn’t I be better with walking boots?
Regards
Tony
Hi Tony,
I don’t think I have ever been asked that question before. I think most people accept that they need to wear golf shoes on a golf course much as a football player wears football boots on the pitch, anyway I have asked around in the club house and here are a couple of answers that were suggested including one from our club pro.
Golf Shoes keep your feet from slipping during the swing, thus causing a miss hit. Having your feet anchored to the ground helps so much during the transition from your backswing. Golf shoes also help reduce slipping which can also cause injuries.(i.e. pulled muscles, etc.) and unlike football boots they have been designed with the golfer in mind. The spikes are exactly where you need them to be so you wont slip during your swing.

They provide traction when you play so your feet don’t slip when you swing. The extra traction helps you control your lower body that will in turn help you control your swing. You’ll definitely notice a difference in your swing when you play with them.

A lot of research goes into designing a golf shoe! The shoe is a very important piece of equipment to playing golf. Shoes are designed to help you have good traction during your golf swing so you can stay balanced. Golf shoes are also made for comfort and to keep your feet nice and dry!

So Tony to sum up Golf Shoes aren’t necessary but are insisted on because they dramatically improve your game and won’t chew up the grass when you’re walking round.
I hope this advice helps.

Nike Replacement Spikes Question
Here at simply golf shoes we believe in golfing Kama which is why we always try to find time to answer your questions. We give back to you which results in us playing better.
This question comes from Beth.
Hi Guys, I know you love Nike Golf Shoes and so I was wondering if you would be able to help. I own a pair of Nike golf shoes, in which the spikes need to be replaced. Can I basically replace them with any spike, or do I need to replace them with the exact Nike kind? In other words, are golf spikes a standard size to fit all shoes?
Over the years Nike has used different spikes with different mounting systems. As you don’t mention the specific shoe that you have I think your best bet is to take the shoes to your favourite golf shop. They will be able to identify which type they are and will have the replacement spikes.
If you like the shoes and plan to keep them for a while you can buy the replacement tool and a box of spikes and do it yourself. Then as one or two wear out you can replace them yourself.
Also if you play on a soft course that’s always green, buy the spikes that have a lot of little spikes. If you play on a course w/a lot of hard pan or very low mown fairways buy the spikes w/3 or 4 spikes called stingers.
Hope this helps.
